Camille Tuason Mata
Camille has been writing professionally as a freelancer since 2005 on mostly urban and community planning issues. While she continues to write about these topics, as former staff writer for the local publication, Western Massachusetts Women's Magazine, she has also contributed regular articles that featured the goings on, of, and about women working, living, and recreating in and around Western Massachusetts. Her articles can be read under "Culture Corner", "Women Entrepreneur", and "Educated Woman".
In addition to indulging in her passion of writing, she consults on urban and community planning projects. She competes for short-term project contracts on Elance.com (camillemata.elance.com) and is striving to grow her urban planning consulting business, The ECOPlanning Institute (see her accompanying homepage).
She has traveled to and lived in a variety of communities around the globe. Her most recent international experience was in Chipata District in the Eastern Province of Zambia, where she served as a CUSO International volunteer. She continues to raise funds for this placement, aiming to meet her minimum goal of $2,000 that would enable CUSO International to continue their poverty-mitigating work in developing countries. Donations are accepted from friends and like-minded strangers. Her blog page can be accessed here: www.volunteeringinzambia.blogspot.com.
Since writing for Suite101.com in 2010, three articles have been selected as "Feature". Camille possesses a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Hawaii, a Master of Arts from Goddard College, concentrating in Environmental Studies, and a Master of Arts in Social Change and Development from the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia.
